A cardigan knitted all over in a waffle stitch, where the yarn is raised into a grid of small squares that stand clear of the ground and give the surface real depth. The texture runs unbroken across the body and both sleeves, catching shadow in the recesses so a single shade reads as two. A row of polished metal buttons runs up a plain flat placket, each one set just wide of the edge so the stitch pattern is not interrupted. The neckline is finished with a narrow knitted band, the cuffs and hem are ribbed to draw the waffle in, and the body is cut straight with an easy line through the waist.
