Plain stocking stitch makes up most of this jumper, cut generously so it sits away from the body. A diagonal band of rib crosses the front, changing the direction of the surface and drawing the eye across rather than down. The neckline is a short mock stand in matching rib. Three generous gilt buttons are set at one shoulder as a working detail. Both sleeves are full and rounded at the top before closing into ribbed cuffs, and the hem drops to a point on one side instead of running level.
