A wide round neckline is edged all round with a ribbon of openwork lace pierced with small round holes, and the same ribbon appears at each shoulder seam and in a straight line under the bust. Above that empire line the body is smooth; below it, the fabric is gathered and falls loose in a babydoll shape that reaches past the hip. The long puff sleeves end in gathered elastic cuffs. The lightly crinkled slub weave is opaque and easy-going, and there are no buttons or pockets.
