Waffle knitting gives this cardigan a raised grid across the whole surface, which adds texture without much extra weight. It is cut long, running well past the hip, and has no collar at all so the front edges simply run in two straight lines from the neck to the hem. There is no fastening, and it is meant to hang open. Deep splits at both side seams let the two panels move independently, two patch pockets sit at hip height, and ribbed cuffs finish the long sleeves.
